진실은 언제나 소수에 있다. 왜냐면 소수의 의견은 보통 자기 의견이 실제로 있는 사람들에 의해서 형성되고 다수의 힘은 자기 의견이 없는 사람들이 모인 집단에 의해 형성된 환영이기 때문이다.

스스로 비판적으로 생각하지 않으면 얼마나 다수의 의견에 따라 동조하기 쉬운가.  내가 다수의 편에 있으면 자신이 스스로 따져보고 생각해본 것도 아니면서도 내가 절대로 맞다는 확신에 가득 차기는 어찌도 이리 쉬운가.
